This gives you the freedom to choose the provider and method that best suits your budget -
typically the online solutions work on a pay-as-you-go basis, where you top up an
account and pay per look up, whereas the software based solutions usually involve a
larger initial outlay, with optional updates.
When you initiate a postcode look up from within the Control Centre, by typing
either a postcode or a postcode and door number combination, the request is passed via
TSLGateway to your online or software-based postcode provider.
The result of the look up, which may be either a single street or multiple delivery points
with door numbers and even company names*, is returned via TSLGateway to the
Control Centre, which then uses the returned data to either fill in an address
(e.g. on the booking screen) or pop up a list of addresses for selection.
